This just came over the wire.

A number of different IRS systems and services will be unavailable at different points over the Columbus Day Weekend.

The IRS Modernized e-File system will conduct its annual Columbus Day power outage beginning this Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time and ending on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 5 a.m. ET. The MeF systems will unavailable during this time.

????????????????????????? Really this weekend. Unbelievable.

I know. I think it impacts Lacerte's handling of state t/rs also, if I'm not mistaken. I have to do a NY (mandated e-filing), not happy about all of this.

It's like when the FTB's website froze on 4/15...CA has a requirement that taxpayers w/ pymts over a certain amount must pay electronically....and then the site failed!

You have to wonder who is designing these systems and making these decisions!
