Hi, everyone.
I'll be reaching age 70 soon and am pondering whether to close up shop completely, vs continuing to do tax preparation work on a part time basis on simple tax returns for, say, another 5 years. Financially I should be OK either way.
I'm definitely losing a step, plus dread sitting in class another 40 hours per year required in my state for CPAs.
Others are saying that I would be foolish to pass up such an easy gig. Those I retain would be long term clients who I know extremely well and communicate with beautifully.
But, I'm wondering if there really is such a thing as "simple" tax returns. I can't imagine going through what we did here last December to advise re the new tax law for a part time list of clients.
Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks!
