Thanks Jeff-Ohio. great. I assume there is no "cleaner " way to do it except through the client listing? i.e. displaying only those with Sch C instead of all the clients
Jeff-Ohio wrote:Before you do what I told you to do in Post #4, go to the main screen, where all clients are listed. Then, hit “F3” to highlight all clients. And then go to Print, Database Reports, etc., as indicated in Post #4.
In other words, you have to tell Lacerte, by highlighting the applicable clients (or all clients using F3), the population from which you are drawing.

At the top - Select Filter - Modify Filters - Add.
Name your filter: maybe use "Sched C Clients" - OK.
Click on Groups - enter Group Name: maybe "Sched C" - OK.
A new screen comes up to enter filter conditions - click Add.
In the field name list select 'Schedule C', compare field "is", value field "yes".
Click OK twice. Your new filter group will show up on the left. Select it and your client list will now only show your clients with a Schedule C.
This is supposed to work, but I just tried it and there are a few clients in my filtered list that don't have a Schedule C. Don't know why.

Unlocking files presents issues...so pick your poison.
I've often copied my entire database to a different location, switched the data path to THAT location, unlocked all the files & then searched/filtered.
