I am new user of ATX MAX. But a big problem with ATX is that s corp. state return is not released until early March, which is unacceptable.
I am thinking changing to other tax software next year and want to ask which tax software has overall good performance and without the late release date issue as ATX has.
Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

If your software budget is about the same as ATX then Drake and Proseries may be close. If you want to spend more then there are other options.
Is ATX always slow with S Corp these days. When I was using that many years back they were on the ball!

Could it be that the state has not approved the state return? Then it would not be ATX fault??

Is ProSeries considered cheap, our firm spends around $7K.

Here is the Proseries pricing:

Does your company have multiple licenses or add-on products from Intuit?

Interesting on the base pricing of ProSeries Professional. I will have to check our add-ons to see what is running up our price.

AlexCPA thanks for taking the time to create an insightful of video of Tax Software.

Demo Proseries extensively before buying and make sure you can deal with it. I found the data entry very awkward and un-intuitive (almost unusable) after many years with Lacerte and several more with Ultratax (both of which are great but expensive). I have very limited experience with Drake's S corporation module and can't speak to its usability but you might want to demo that too.
Because on T.A. ten was the most you were allowed

As far as I know Drake has no issues with Sub S tax return 1120S generation.

I believe the late release is due to ATX not the state. I also heard from others that ATX has been delaying some states' s corp. return form releases dates in previous years as well.

Call ATX customer support and file a complaint and enter it on their Community Boards, that gets their attention.

If you take a look at the 2019 Tax Software Survey (google it), they got good scores like Drake. So if this was such an issue with ATX I am sure it would have showed up in that survey??

Our ProSeries Cost are:
$6K for the PowerTax Library
$1K network Version
$399 Pro Fast Path Service License

Is that within reason?

Thank you all for your kind words and feedback regarding my Lacerte review! I emailed links to the videos to the C-Suite of Intuit and one of the executives responded with the following:

I especially appreciated Part 2 with your careful and thorough assessment of where we could be doing better. “Everybody likes to party like it’s 1999, but this software looks exactly like it did in 1994” is a great line!

Only if you had licensed the song from late Prince or posted this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rblt2EtFfC4

I use that line all the time!

I just finished a Maryland S-Corp - 1120s - the MD 510 - Pass thru loaded and displayed and proof checked, used ATX software, all went smoothly. I don't see a delay in access to the state pass-thru forms - as OP states from ATX.

My state, NJ, is the last one to get S corp. return form released by ATX. the estimated release date is March 2nd.
