What physical device are you using to process credit cards?

What credit card processing service do you recommend?

What kind of % fee do you think is reasonable?

I use Square. They charge the same rate for all cards. So the one client that whips out his AMEX card costs me the same as the one that pulls out their debit card. It’s about 2.7% for in-office transactions, about 3.04% for online and 3.5% if you key the card number, which I try really hard not to do.

We use Intuit Merchant services through QBO. The pricing is about the same as Square above.

They're all going to charge 3%, give or take, for DC/CC processing.

Some may charge a flat monthly fee in exchange for a lower processing rate. In that situation you'd hope to recover the fee and more through processing volume.

I also use intuit merchant through QBO. If I didn't use that I would look into CPACharge.

I have a reader in my desk and one in my laptop bag - the ability to take it with me and have clients pay from anywhere is a major asset.

I was leaning toward Square, you have tipped me over! Thank you for everyone’s responses, each response was appreciated and helpful!
