I was going to say, that’s fast. I can remember the last time I got through in under 2 hours. And more often then not I’m not even given a chance to hold. “Please try again later.”

Try calling the IRS practitioner priority line when they open at 7am ET. 866-860-4259

I've had good luck with that. Don't call the "general" individual or business lines. You'll be on hold all day.

Once you finish pressing redial and whatever menu options need to be pressed, over, and over, and over ...

Saw an ad for a service where a company uses computers to get in line with the IRS for their subscribers. When you log in and want to talk with the IRS - they give you that computer's place in line which cuts your wait time significantly. Unbelievable that is a viable business model.

I hate that it’s a business model. I hate paying $100/m for it. There is no way I could see operating without it right now.

They seize the incoming phone lines such that non-payers can't even get put on hold. You can file an online complaint through the Systemic Advocacy Management System, https://www.irs.gov/advocate/systemic-advocacy-management-system-sams
