For S Corps, Robert Jamison is king:
S Corporation Taxation (2022) by Robert W. Jamison
https://www.amazon.com/Corporation-Taxa ... W.+Jamison…but I have to confess, his stuff is always expensive and I always found a used copy or used one a couple of years out of date and then just flicked to the Master Tax Guide to confirm info still relevant. He publishes a new book every year, so just look under his name and find a used book.

My bible for partnership taxation is McKee, Nelson & Whitmore: Federal Taxation of Partnerships & Partners (WG&L).
I think it was McKee & Nelson when I first used it in my Masters in Taxation course in the late 1980s.

If you can, go to a university bookstore. You can ask for a book list for the tax courses, see the latest books used, pick up used textbooks, and flip through the textbooks. You maybe partial to one textbook over another one because one may be general but the other more detailed… and also because some textbooks have very dense text with multiple concepts per page while other textbooks may have 1 concept per page with an example.

Is the fourth edition of this book published in 2007 too outdated? Has partnership tax laws changed a lot since then? What are major changes? Thanks

You would be missing anything QBI related, as well as precontribution gain reporting.

You would also be missing the changes under the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015.
