Here is a draft of the retirement letter that I am planning on sending. Suggestions appreciated:

Dear Client's Name,
We appreciated the opportunity to prepare your tax return this year. We have enjoyed our professional
relationship for many years.
Now is the time for Joe and myself to begin the next phrase of our lives. Both of us are retiring this year.
This year will be my last tax season.
Please note that I am still available should you receive any notices for this year's or any previous year's
returns. I am also available for Tax Planning for 2023, which would be a separate engagement, should you
desire so.
We wish you the best and please keep in touch.
We will still be monitoring our phone lines at (630)968-1608.
Sincerely,

Thanks!
Cathy

Congrats on your retirement!

Letter looks good to me, but I don't have much experience with these things - curious to see what others will say.

Will you refer them to someone else?

EDIT: Congratulations!

Congratulations, Cathy!

Should it be "Joe and me"?

In Scots or Old Irish, “Myself,” is grammatically correct.

Are you planning on sending it now or do you think it would be worth waiting till after tax season, bumping the earlier post and seeing if you get any takers then?

Well since covid so many clients became remote clients. If you have a bunch of these they should be easy to sell. I purchased such a practice last year.

I am in NY but looking to move to the south in about 2 years so I would be interested in purchasing remote clients.

Change phrase to phase. Sounds good to me. Congratulations! Such a big decision!

Congrats! I am jealous!

I'm confused too why you haven't sold it. Isn't that part of your nest egg? Or maybe I don't understand what the acronym PFZ is.

Thanks. I am so I part time, I have less than 30 clients, many who require hand holding. That's where I spend most of my time, playing their mommy.

PFZ = Penalty Free Zone, the forum where we can get silly, within reason. It is also where we blow off steam with the Dear Client thread each tax season.
