Hi- I am researching on the internet trying to get some of my CE done during the summer, but all the online courses seem to be junk. I am looking for at least a few courses that will really further my knowledge, not just read a few pages and take a short multiple choice test to fulfill the requirements. Specifically, I really need some CE on trust and estate returns since I seem to be getting more and more of them lately. Can anyone recommend something that doesn't cost a fortune? I am wondering if some of the people that seem to have all the answers on this forum teach any online courses at a decent price?
Thanks in advance!

I've been using PES and have been happy with them. In fact I did the estate/trust module last year. The PDF book included with the course is excellent and can be used as a desk reference.

Nothing beats a live instructor course but for me it's almost impossible to travel or even find a free day to attend a live course.

I've used both NATP and Surgent-McCoy study materials and think both are very good and moderately priced. Both offer live webinars and self study. Here is a link to the NATP self-study, http://www.natptax.com/EventsAndEducati ... urses.aspx

The Surgent-McCoy material appears on two websites. Their main site is http://www.cpenow.com. However, they offer many of the same courses on their other site http://www.rtrpeducation.com at a much lower price. Although the url has RTRP, the CE credits also apply to EAs.

Here's some free CPE from the IRS. You have to sign up and login. I am signed up for these alerts, and I recommend that you sign up, too. It's free CPE, after all.

This seems to be the time for IRS Live to start offering CE. For me, this would mean earning a total of 5 free CEs in about a month and a half.

I have been please with nice cheap hours at http://www.apluscpe.com/ to satisfy IRS. I get my real education at live workshops like CSEA Super Seminar http://superseminar.org/ and year end updates like Brass Tax http://brasstax.com/ and Spidell https://www.caltax.com/shop/index.php?route=product/tree&path=59 for example

CheckPoint by Thomson-Reuters is pretty solid, and you can buy access to over 450 classes, plus live online seminars and the like, for $299 a year.

They have some cheaper packages also.

Thought I would bump this thread because I found a really inexpensive CPE website that allows for online exams, it was very easy and unlimited CPE is 99.00 for EAs and that includes ETHICS (usually these websites charge extra for ethics).

I'm NOT affiliated with them, I just signed up and got my first certificate and saved it to PDF, it was really hassle-free.

My company isn't offering any kind of CPE this year, I'm done with this ridiculous new licensing fiasco that the IRS has decided to thrust upon us. I'm going to let our sponsorship lapse, in fact.

Here's the site: $99 unlimited for EAs. https://www.sequoiacpe.com/

A very inexpensive CPE site is http://www.funcpe.com. The study material is usually an IRS pub, so you probably won't learn very much. But the cost is about $4-$5 per hour. They offer a free 1 hour course so you can "test drive" the site.

Wise Guides is also a good, affordable source for CE. www.wiseguides.com, or, if you want to take a free course: http://www.paychex.com/accounting-profe ... nline.aspx. Every couple of months, they offer a new course.

It looks like the Sequoia CPE website has increased since Tax Writer recommended it. Also, Does not include Ethics. Was it really the price you mentioned in April?

The site lists two programs, one for EAs which was the price Tax Writer mentioned and one for CPAs which is higher.
