The CP59 notice is typically issued to taxpayers who fail to file a timely return. Chaos within IRS Operations due to COVID prevented the IRS from completely processing paper-filed and e-filed 2019 returns. Taxpayers who filed and received the CP59 notice are told to disregard the letter and do not need to take to take any action.

Thanks ATS....I read that on one of AICPA update emails too and just don't think our clients will take "Just ignore it!" I know there's not much we can do but talk them off the ledge and explain the IRS backlog. But just one more thing we have to deal with in explaining to clients how they should not expect normalcy when dealing with the IRS.
