Private Messages stuck in Outbox

Does anyone know why responses I've made to private messages I've received remain stuck in my outbox? Was my messaging disabled by a moderator or does pressing the Send Reply button actually not send the reply?

I believe they stay there until they get read. I was confused by that a couple of years ago and peppered another member’s inbox until I realized. I think there is a thread on this topic.

Moderators do not have access to your messaging.

Until a message has been read by the recipient, it will show as being in your outbox.
