Just a reminder:

You have to manually switch off Daylight Savings Time in your profile.

1. Click on "User Control Panel".

2. Click on "Board Preferences".

3. Click the "No" option next to "Summer Time/DST is in effect:".

4. Click "Submit".

Thanks, Brian. This is one of the things about the board software that I just don't get. Here we are in 2014 and we are asking people to click a box to turn off/on DST...I need to look into it (but admit, not high on my list of priorities).

Was this a manual switch for everyone? I thought I was previously on DST setting (from when the board was first set up earlier this year), but as of this morning I was already back at standard time, without taking any action.

I've been on several boards where it is a manual switch. The problem, AFAIK, is that DST is not standardized between the US and other parts of the world or even within the US, (e.g. Arizona).

I did update my profile. Does it affect the actual timestamp in the forum database (for goodness sake, I hope not!) or simply my view of the time as displayed? It's probably the latter, as computer admins figured out long ago that all internal times should be UTC formerly known as Greenwich Mean Time. We know by now that you East Coasters are 3 hours ahead of us slowpokes out West. Did you know China covers geographically 5 time zones but only observes one, for the whole country?
