Well, he moved his business from NC to NY in 2014 for personal reasons. He is in the habit of overpaying on his withholding to avoid having to make estimated payments. It would have worked, but, in the fourth quarter of 2014, he got a chance to make a lot of money and took it. Because it was his first year in NY, he had no prior year liability to fall back on. Now, ordinarily, I would accept that, but it was the spike at the end of the year that caused all his problems. We decided it was worth a letter.
