Lawyer handled a case for discrimination.

Settlement was 240k.

He received a check for 160k from the defendant to pass on to his client.

He also received a check for 80k from the defendant which he kept for his fee.

What is the correct way to do the 1099 to the lawyer's client.

Should it be a 1099 for other income for 240k and then the client deduct the 80k as an adjustment to agi?
