Does anyone know if the IRS practitioner hotline is in service now?

I talked to them yesterday. Faxed two 2848. Got an E file reject. We explored why. He said when my client went into the IRS website to register her account number for the stimulus payment that the website “creates” a 2019 return for one dollar, so my client has to paper file. The second client... he sent me wage and income transcripts to my secure inbox at E services.

Did the person at PPS say/know if the IRS is accepting paper file returns now?

Accepting but still storing them. He thought the heat would kill the virus on the paper.

What heat? Is the storage not climate controlled?

Or are they sitting there vigorously staring at them? :)

Called Hotline 4-times - recording "due to high call volume we can not take you call at this time - please call back"
Called IRS Advocate - Virginia - recording says "all IRS campuses are closed due to Covid Virus - leave your number
we will attempt to call you back - identify your hardship".
I'm trying to get a status on a Paper Filed 1040X (mailed 3/28/2020 to Austin, Texas).
I have another 1040X (not processed) mailed in September 2019.

Search where is my amended return on IRS website. The tool wll tell you the 1040-X status. I also had client mail 1040x in April and still does not show so presuming its in the IRS mail bin.

Exactly - in the mail bin - maybe. Not entered into the system - usually the website reads "received Austin Tx xxxxdate"
now just nothing.

Called the Practitioner Priority Service line today. Waited on hold for about 5 minutes and was connected.
