Single member LLC is changing it's name with the state division of corporations. It's obviously a schedule C as a disregarded entity. Do we also have to inform IRS of the name change?

Maybe follow the sole proprietor instructions if it's an LLC taxed as a DRE?

I was going to say that IRS attaches the owner's name to the Sch. C, but wasn't sure about LLC's, even disregarded.

Yep. I think OP is asking about how to change the name that the EIN is attached to. At least, that's what I read into it.

If there is no EIN, and the SMLLC just uses the owner's SSN as its tax ID, I would think you'd just update the LLC name on next year's Sch C.
