Hi,
Can anyone suggest a good online 1099-NEC filing service which includes e-filing to State of California?
I have been using EagleViewFiling for past few years, but their site and customer service are ambiguous -- I could not get a clear answer to that question.
Thank you!

If you don't find an e-file provider, it looks like tax1099.com fulfills CA obligations (but they process for paper filing and mail in):

California requirements for 1099-NEC

California requires 1099-NEC filing.

Recommended filing method: Paper.

Deadline: February 28, 2021

Tax1099 fulfills: Yes

Cost: $10 per submission + $0.50 per form

That cost is pretty steep!

Checklist -- out of curiosity does track1099.com allow one to efile past year's 1099 forms, or just the current year?

Their platform appears much more efficient than tax1099.com

Downside is no 941/940 and 944 efiling, but I guess one could always use another platform for those forms.

track1099.com does indeed allow prior year's filings.

Thank you for turning me onto this provider. The ability to import via .csv is reason enough alone to switch from tax1099.com, which is clunky in comparison.

Someone on another site recommended track1099. I have no experience with it.

I use Track1099, it's perfectly fine, but the only oddity I deal with is that the tax forms don't look official. I usually get a question or two each year about them.

The main reason I use Track1099 instead of Yearli was because Track1099 also could do 1095s which I needed at first and I'm too lazy to change again.

track1099 uses a substitute form. It looks weird if one isn't familiar with substitute forms, but it works for the IRS. Not to keep crapping on tax1099, but their forms looked terrible even through they used the official IRS format, so I'll take the substitute forms of track1099. At least they look clean and consistent.

Yearli looks expensive. $5.50 per 1099 without a subscription? Am I interpreting their website correctly?

Tried out track1099.com -- great service! They efile to CA and have much better interface and more logical workflow than EagleViewFiling. Will use them from now on. Agree with ManVsTax about weird but clean substitute forms. No biggie! I created an Excel file where I enter the data which then spits out CSV file that conforms to their template for upload. Very efficient!

We do not do enough 1099's to justify signing up. Dont mind the extra cost of doing them on a one by one basis. Plus the user interface is simple :)

Interesting but still...yearli seems to cost more than double what comparable platforms cost. Also without a subscription.

In fairness, Yearli appears to include the client mailing and direct state e-file in its price while that is a separate charge in most other platforms. Those two services are about $1.50 each service, per 1099, on Track1099.

Good to know. Thanks.

But still...not to be argumentative, but e-delivery doesn't cost anything and most states don't require a 1099 to be filed if state income tax isn't withheld.

If all ICs request delivery via USPS and one has state filings (e.g. a California based CPA), then prices are probably comparable.

I think at best it's a wash, at worst one is paying almost double per 1099 with Yearli compared to the a la carte competitors.

Not trashing it, just comparing. Everyone should do what works for them.
