amended personal return received by IRS July 8 , 2020

Just hit Where's my amended return - took 9 months to get the 1040X into the online system. And the message says it has not been processed.

Ouch!

Sent March 1st, 2020 not yet processed.

Yes, the March 2020 ones seemed to have bad luck. I called Taxpayer Priority Line a few times, and they do find them in the system - they're just waiting to get processed.

We sent 5 years of amended returns (all separate envelopes) as part of a voluntary disclosure program, mailed in March 2020. They cashed the checks soon after, but then in December 2020 I got a letter saying they lost the 2018 return and could I mail it again please. Then in Jan they asked for 2015, and soon after yet another request to resubmit 2016 because they lost the return. So then we pre-emptively resent the years they had not yet told us they lost. Grrr. None of the amended returns, re-sent or otherwise, have been processed.

You might want to check with the client to see if they have received their refund.

I have been checking every week to see if an amended return was processed. My client received their refund check on April 27, 2021. The "Where's My Amended Return" still shows the return was received in July 2020. I looked on May 1 and May 3 and the website stills says the return has not been processed.
