How many years should an employer keep W-2 forms for employees and other payroll forms such as 941s. ?

Found this on the internet

According to the Social Security Administration, employers need to keep copies of W-2 forms for at least four years. The SSA might require copies of your W-2 forms to support your tax and wage reports in the event the agency requires reconciliation to resolve errors and discrepancies.

If it's a small company, it's a small number of forms or a small file in the cloud. If it's a large company, it's a small file in the cloud. There is no reason to NOT keep them a long, long time.
