My fellow tax professionals, I have a quick question.

As for Form 1040X, does your tax program put information on Page 2 Part 1 'Dependents' even if there is no change in exemption or dependent information in the amended tax return?

Or does your tax program completely leave the section blank if there is no change in dependent?

I use Drake. I have never seen Drake put anything there in 2019 or before. But then in 2020 tax program, they started putting the information on Page 2 even if there is no change in dependent or exemption.

I wonder if there was a change in IRS filing instruction starting in 2020. If not, I am just worried doing that may cause confusion to the person who handles the amended tax return and make the incorrect assumption that there is change in dependent or exemption while that is not the case.
