Client husband, who is retired, is turning 65 in June and will be going on Medicare. Wife is remaining on their marketplace insurance, they have the high deductible plan.
Question is, what is the max they can contribute for the year 2022?
Based on what I've read:
Husband and wife can remain on family plan for six months, meaning they can contribute half (six months) of $8300 (both over 55) or $4150.
PLUS
Wife will now be self plan for six months, so she can contribute half of $4650 or $2325.
So this couple can contribute $4150 + $2325 for $6475.
I have one form 8889 which shows family coverage for $4150 and one form 8889 for spouse self coverage for $2325.
