Decedent died while a NY resident. Never lived in MA. Trustee is a MA resident. No MA sourced income. That doesn’t create a MA filing requirement, does it? The instructions seem to indicate no. But I just got a client that wants me to also prepare his mother-in-laws trust. 2021 has a fed and MA return. No NY return.
