I have a client who used a different preparer in 2021. The client has an inherited non-qualified annuity reported on a 1099-R Coded as 4 and D in box 7. The clients 2021 return has the amount of the 1099-R flowing to Line 35 of the OH Schedule A for survivor benefits.
Drake is not flowing this amount to the survivor benefits line. In Drake we have to code this a special pension type. I've talked to a few other preparers in the area and they say they typically override that line to inlcude ANYTHING that includes code 4 on the 1099.
To me, this doesn't seem correct, especially since these are not pensions. One of the financial advisors I talked with stated he does not see a way this is not taxable at the state of OH level.
Any input would be much appreciated
