New client is the executor for their father's estate. The father passed in 2022.

Client believes his father's only income was from social security, but he's not 100% sure. Client also does not have a copy of the 2022 Form 1099-SSA, and isn't confident that he'll be able to find it.

What is the fastest and easiest way to obtain a wage and income transcript for the father? Would the client have to fax or mail in Form 4506-T?

Form 2848 has instructions for how a personal rep/executor can sign it. That would be my preference.

Get the following:

- copy of the will or trust document identifying the personal representative (PR) of the deceased
- death certificate
- Form 56 signed by son confirming he is the PR of the deceased
- Form 2848 signed by son as the PR for the deceased

Call PPL and be prepared to fax the above to the IRS rep. They will put transcripts in your e-services mailbox within 24 hours, although in my experience it is usually instantaneous.
