Can you disable Chrome keyboard shortcut ctrl w

Office, Adobe, Chrome, and a lot of other apps all use "ctrl w" to close their window.

I'm looking for a way to disable that in Chrome because with multiple monitors it's easy to think your cursor is in one window that you want to close while it's really focused on another.

Usually no big deal, but since I used Go System via Chrome, hitting ctrl w in a Go System window will close the return and mostly log you out.

Closest I came to disabling was trying to create a ctrl w shortcut using this extension and setting it to "do nothing." Didnt do it for me. Anyone dig into this before?

Instead of disabling, why don't you change the 'ctrl w' shortcut in Chrome to something else. I have never done it. I found this online, maybe it will help you.

CP, thank you. Looks like that particular addin has been discontinued, but it gave me search term and came up with both the one I'm using unsuccessfully, "shortcuts"', and a newer one "https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/autocontrol-shortcut-mana/lkaihdpfpifdlgoapbfocpmekbokmcfd"

Suspect ctrl w can't be reprogrammed, but I'll try.

Chrome store " AutoControl Shortcut Manager" ext works like a charm when i set " ctrl w " to something innocuous like decrease display size.

Thank you.
