It's about time. I'm in the middle of potentially onboarding a prospect that needs 2019 returns and 2018 amended returns.

Compared to efiling, it's such a pain to process for paper filing and take a trip to FedEx. So inefficient.

Looks like only 2019 Form 1040-X and forward (I'm assuming) will be allowed to be efiled, but I'll take it.

Have the software companies given any indication when this will go live?

I haven't seen anything from Drake. I imagine the software companies have heard as much as we have up to this point.

I've got one ready for signature and I'm contemplating holding onto it until it can be efiled. Refund Situation. If I can efile it by the end of August, I suspect TP would still get their refund sooner than snail mail.

IIRC, the IRS said it would be ready for the 2019 tax year only (not prior years) "during the fall".

The hard definition of "fall" for 2020 is Sep 22, 2020 – Dec 21, 2020, FWIW.

Earlier in the year they said "late summer". So they've already pushed the release date back.

I'd only heard the "late summer" as well.

Oops, summer...fall...one of those seasons.
